Apl De Ap donates medical equipment to prevent blindness

Sa ulat ng TV Patrol, muli na namang tumulong si Black Eyed Peas member Apl De Ap sa mga kababayan sa San Fernando, Pampanga nang mag-donate siya ng medical equipment sa ospital doon.

Ang medical equipment na ipinagkaloob ni Apl sa ospital ay ginagamit para ma-detect ang ROP o Retinopathy of Prematurity sa isang sanggol. Ayon sa ulat, puwedeng magdulot ng pagkabulag ang ROP kung hindi ito ma-diagnose agad sa loob ng dalawang araw.

Nakaka-relate si Apl sa mga batang may problema sa paningin dahil sa pinagdaanan din niya ang kondisyon na “legal blindness.” “I myself grew up as legally blind and I had a difficult time going through school so I want to prevent the youth and other kids to not go through the same difficulties so they can excel to gain education.”

Para naman maintindihan kung ano ang legal blindness, ayon sa website na afb.org, “legal blindness is a level of vision loss that has been legally defined to determine eligibility for benefits. In the United States, this refers to a medically diagnosed central visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with the best possible correction, and/or a visual field of 20 degrees or less.”

Nangako rin si Apl na magdo-donate pa siya ng medical equipment sa ibang ospital.
