MANILA – British chef Jason Atherton, whose three restaurants in London all have a Michelin star each, will soon open a restaurant in Cebu.

According to an article in Forbes by contributor Cheryl Tiu, Atherton will open a 70-seater restaurant called The Pig and Palm this June in partnership with Cebu-based Chris and Carla McKowen.

The restaurant will include a chef’s table, a tapas bar, a main dining area and a lounge area.

Atherton said The Pig and Palm serves as a “love letter” to his Filipina wife, Irha.

“It has always been Irha’s dream to bring some of the success of our restaurant group, The Social Company, back to her hometown of Cebu,” Atherton said. “As my wife and co-director of the company, it gives me no greater joy than to open a Social destination here as my love letter to her.”

Atherton’s restaurants that have been awarded a Michelin star each include Pollen Street Social, Social Eating House and City Social in London.

His other concepts include 22 Ships, Ham & Sherry and Aberdeen Street Social in Hong Kong; The Commune Social in Shanghai; Marina Social in Dubai; The Clocktower in New York City; and Kensington Street Social in Sydney, Australia.
