The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission on Thursday noted the need for stronger policies to go against illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators, adding that as many as 100 illegal POGOs are still operating in the country.

Dr. Winston John Casio said this a day after PAOCC, the police and other Philippine agencies raided a massive illegal POGO hub operating in Porac, Pampanga for alleged sexual and labor trafficking.

Casio says the PAOCC has so far raided only 4 of these illegal POGO hubs, with the tedious process of case buildup to the conduct of operations already taking them two months.

“At the rate we are going ay hindi ho yata natin kayang tapusin ang problemang ito hangga’t hindi magkakaroon ng polisiya na magkaroon nang mas malalim at mas malakas na polisiya laban po dito sa mga scam farms na mga ito,” Casio said.

The PAOCC spokesman however said that it will be up to PAOCC’s chairman, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, whether or not to recommend to President Marcos Jr. the total ban of POGOs.

“But I am certain, we are certain because he has told this several times already to us, we, in the Secretariat na lubhang nakakabahala at dapat ituloy namin iyong aming malawakang operasyon laban sa mga scam farms na mga ito at huwag kaming panghihinaan ng loob sapagkat lagi po siyang nasa likod namin bilang aming chairman at tutulungan niya kami lagi para tuluyang maipasara at matigil ang problemang ito,” Casio said.

Some 157 foreign nationals and 29 Filipinos were rescued on Wednesday by the PAOCC and other Philippine agencies from the Pampanga POGO linked to human trafficking. This was the second high-profile POGO operation in Central Luzon this year, following the earlier raid of the illegal POGO facility in Bamban, Tarlac.
