MANILA - Authorities are rushing to conduct contact tracing in Iloilo City following reports that a Bureau of Fire Protection personnel tested positive for coronavirus after attending a party in Boracay.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said he had received a report that before the BFP regional director and his group went to Boracay, "they went to a resort in Antique with city hall employees from the zoning office who are regular and casuals."

"Pictures were sent to me thru email last night. I have already instructed the city legal and Atty. Ruben Torres to make a quick investigation and report to me later at 11:30 am. All city hall employees will be swabbed and places under strict quarantine," he said in a Facebook post dated June 18.

The infected personnel arrived in Iloilo City on June 6 and was quarantined in a hotel where a swab test was also conducted. However, the personnel was "pulled out" from the hotel and "reported for active duty at the BFP regional and Iloilo City Central Office."

The positive result was released by the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Department of Health (DOH) on June 13.

Treñas earlier signed Executive Order 91 for the enforcement of the extreme enhanced community quarantine in the BFP regional and city offices to "prevent the spread or local transmission of COVID-19 and to conduct COVID-19 testing to detect the infected persons."

“More than 100 BFP personnel (were) exposed to the BFP personnel who came from Cebu on June 9 until the present,” the order read.

Speaking to ABS-CBN's TeleRadyo, Trenas said the city health office has already conducted swab tests and are awaiting results.

He confirmed that the BFP personnel went to Boracay to attend a despedida party last June 12. "Baka nasobrahan ng quarantine," he said.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government earlier said it has placed 28 BFP personnel in Region 6 under floating status after attending a supposed conference that turned out to be a "despedida" party on Boracay Island in breach of quarantine protocols.
