“I just really want to be authentic or genuine sa mga tao. Quirky, witty, and just overall madaldal. 'Yun talaga 'yung gusto kong ipakita sa mga tao. And of course, my love for music as well,” said Ella when asked about the kind of branding she hopes to embrace.

For her, becoming a VJ wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment dream. Rather, it was something she tucked in her heart as a ten-year-old, waiting for the day she’d finally be old enough to audition. “Nu’ng time na ‘yun, ‘pag nag-mi-MYX VJ Search sila, ina-announce talaga nila ‘yun sa TV kung saan ka mag-audition, kung ano 'yung qualifications. Laging nakalagay, ‘must be 18 to 24 years old.’ I was like 10, 11, ganu’n. So sabi ko sa sarili ko, once I turn 18, mag-audition talaga ako,” she recalled.

Instead, she explored digital content creation, dabbled in radio with Adamson University's Falcon Radio, and sharpened her hosting skills through UAAP events and mentorships. Then, when MYX opened auditions again, she didn’t think twice.
Little did Ella know that fate had other plans. The pandemic hit just as she came of age, and the dream had to take a backseat. Instead, she explored digital content creation, dabbled in radio with Adamson University's Falcon Radio, and sharpened her hosting skills through UAAP events and mentorships. Then, when MYX opened auditions again, she didn’t think twice.

“Parang for me, hindi na kailangan mag-isip. Hindi na ako nagdalawang isip. Kailangan ko talagang mag-audition for MYX. Kasi even if hindi ako matanggap, I should at least try. I owe it to myself na hinintay ko pang mag-18 years old ako para lang mag-audition,” she confessed.
“Parang for me, hindi na kailangan mag-isip. Hindi na ako nagdalawang isip. Kailangan ko talagang mag-audition for MYX. Kasi even if hindi ako matanggap, I should at least try. I owe it to myself na hinintay ko pang mag-18 years old ako para lang mag-audition,” she confessed.
While on-screen charm comes naturally to her, Ella acknowledged she’s still learning the ropes: “Hindi ako naging ganu’n ka-prepared nu’ng una. Parang in my head, gusto ko lang i-try pero hindi talaga ako confident na makukuha ko. And then especially with the popularity voting, you have to reach out to people to vote for you. Medyo weakness ko kasi ‘yung mga ganu’ng bagay.”
While on-screen charm comes naturally to her, Ella acknowledged she’s still learning the ropes: “Hindi ako naging ganu’n ka-prepared nu’ng una. Parang in my head, gusto ko lang i-try pero hindi talaga ako confident na makukuha ko. And then especially with the popularity voting, you have to reach out to people to vote for you. Pinapanood ko talaga ‘yung mga [clip] ko and where I think I should improve on,” Ella said, further sharing that she listens to podcasts for guidance and advice.

Personally, a lot of people would still ask me, ‘Ano ‘yung MYX?’ especially, the younger ones na hindi na nila masyado naabutan ang MYX in its prime talaga,” Ella admitted.

With MYX now present across platforms—YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and even podcasts—it’s a chance to modernize a legacy and make it matter again. “Hindi na tayo limited sa Philippines ngayon. MYX Global na tayo, so mayroon na rin tayo sa ibang bansa. So yeah, definitely this is a new generation of MYX na we're going to focus din on promoting ‘yung sariling atin which is OPM,” Ella told Metro.Style.
